Spoken French Course Profile

Course Title: Spoken French (A1-A2)

Duration: 12 Weeks

Level: A1-A2 (Beginner) – Based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

Mode of Delivery: Online Only


Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Speak with basic fluency in everyday situations.

  • Communicate using functional language for greetings, introductions, shopping, travel, and daily interactions.

  • Read and understand simple texts, signs, and short dialogues.

  • Grasp basic grammar (sentence structure, verb conjugations, pronouns, and common phrases).

  • Expand functional vocabulary related to daily life, work, and social interactions.


Course Structure:

Week 1-3: Foundations of Communication

  • Greetings & introductions (Bonjour, Comment ça va ?)

  • Personal information (name, nationality, profession)

  • Basic questions & answers (Qui, Quoi, Où, Quand)

  • Numbers, time, and dates

Week 4-6: Daily Life & Practical Language

  • Shopping & asking for prices (Combien ça coûte ?)

  • Ordering food in a café/restaurant (Je voudrais…)

  • Asking for directions (Où est… ?)

  • Family & describing people (Il/Elle est…)

Week 7-9: Travel & Social Interactions

  • Booking a hotel & transportation (Je voudrais réserver…)

  • Emergencies & basic healthcare (J’ai besoin d’aide)

  • Hobbies & interests (J’aime… / Je n’aime pas…)

  • Introduction to past & future tense (J’ai mangé / Je vais…)

Week 10-12: Consolidation & Real-Life Practice

  • Role-playing real-life scenarios (market, restaurant, travel)

  • Listening & comprehension exercises (French dialogues)

  • Writing short messages & emails

  • Final speaking assessment
